INTO THE WOODS
FRIDAY 24 & SATURDAY 25 JULY, 2020
“The difference between a cow and a bean is a bean can begin an adventure.”
LGYT bring Into the Woods, their 9th full-scale musical, to the beautiful City Varieties Music Hall, following hot on the heels of their acclaimed, sold-out production of Little Shop of Horrors.
The Baker and his Wife have been cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door. They embark on a quest to break the spell, lying, swindling and cajoling their way through the woods as a small army of fairy tale characters with their OWN wishes lead them a merry dance. Just as the curse looks like being lifted a Giantess steps down from the sky, straight onto some of our beloved characters and the survivors realise they must pull together in order to succeed.
Into the Woods is a thoroughly modern twist on many of our most beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales and one of Stephen Sondheim’s most celebrated works. A lively, fractured fantasy and a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.
With a cast of 40, a live orchestra, and a flock of birds… “Be ready for the journey.”
